Evaluation: ****
Bardolino stands on the eastern riviera of Lake Garda, 30 kms from Verona, and is one of the best-loved places on the lake, not only for the beauty of the lake there, but also for the beautiful countryside and hills behind. Just a few kilometres from Bardolino is Lake Garda's famous games park and, for those who appreciate the art cities, Verona is a particularly interesting spot for cultural visits. Venice can be reached in an hour by train from the station at Peschiera. It is world-famous for the production of the excellent red wine "Bardolino", ruby red or rosé, which is produced in the large vineyards on the hills all around the town. The old town centre, dominated by the tall belltower of the church of San Severo, is full of attractive houses and streets where you can admire historic architecture and masterpieces of art and of the local history. Villa i Broi lies in the village of Cisano 2 kms from Bardolino, in a very panoramic position overlooking the lake. The villa was built in the middle of the 1800s and still maintains the atmosphere of that time in the furnishings as well. The outside area is very large, and on one side the garden with trees goes down to a balustrade looking towards the lake, and at the rear is a field bordered by a vineyard, and at the sides are the veranda and terrace, with relaxation areas and a barbecue area. The wardens, 2 retired people, live in a house next to the villa and have separate entrances and external spaces. Cisano, which has food shops, is just 500 metres away and can be reached on foot. Not to be missed is a trip to the point at San Virgilio and to the beach of the Sirens (spiaggia delle Sirene). The villa has stereo with CD player, a telephone line just for an internet connection, dishwasher and washing-machine.
